Entry: Big oranges and Grapefruits with past experiences Tuesday, February 22, 2005

I always have a sweet tooth, craving for something that is sweet. At this time of the period, I cannot indulge in chocolate and sweets. I realised that i have found substitutes for these cravings - Fruits! Yet I have to choose them carefully such that i won't overload myself with too much carbo.

After my gym session, I went to NTUC Tiong Bahru to take a peek at the items they have. they were selling Navel oranges (giant size) and Grapefruits that are of the size of a mini pomelo. looks like my stock of Grapefruit Essential Oil is about to use up and i need something to replace my hunger pangs.

I decided to buy 3 oranges and the giant grapefruit. They are not cheap though. each Nacvel orange costs 90 cents and a grapefruit costs $1.00. I do not want to buy too much of the grapefruit as my first encounter with it was indeed a bad experience. My first taste of grapefruit was a sour and bitter one, like lemons. Hopefully, I get a sweeter one this time round. i do hope that my taste buds can detect sweet taste better this time round.

Just to update you that the Navel oranges are though sweet, but it is comparatively drier than the normal oranges. For people who like oranges that squirt out every bite, NEVER buy this. However, the sweetness of the orange has compensated for the loss of water.

Well, i will try out the giant Grapefruit tomorrow! Hope that this will be of my liking. Seriously, I had never felt so energetic and light before, even with a drastic reduction of food. I have not touch a single grain of rice today for my meal. Just 6 pcs of Multi-grain bread with 3 pcs low fat cheese, a protein bar, with 2 oranges  (~1200 Calories) to last the whole day. Never did I imagine myself to eat just these to survive. I had thought that this is impossible.

One thing I had learnt is that everything that we are doing depends on the mind. If we can control our mind, we can create miracles! I believe in this, though sometimes it might e easier to do things the easy way out. I am a man, and man makes mistakes. So, I really need the support of friends and constant encouragement! Which I think I am fortunate enough that I am blessed with so many good people.
